2024 Cultural Olympics Exhibition Program: The Fabulous Stories to Save the Green Planet

The 4th Winter Youth Olympic Games began with the vision of “sports as a source of joy and growth, a peaceful future through coexistence and harmony.” It aims to uphold the values of the Olympics through sports and provide “culture and education programs” that allow participants to experience future-oriented changes and gain a deeper understanding of the host city’s culture and history. Furthermore, it promotes “empathy, coexistence, and collaboration” among young athletes from different countries by providing a wide range of interactive activities and cultural events to help them build networks and solidarity.

The Fabulous Stories to Save the Green Planet is an exhibition that offers an artistic perspective on crucial ecological issues such as sustainability, biodiversity, and the climate crisis. It revolves around the importance of our ecosystem, global environmental challenges, and green activities for the future, encouraging teenagers to engage with and deepen their understanding of these themes. In addition, the program seeks to preserve vanishing intangible cultural heritage through digital art, while at the same time rediscovering and promoting the cultural and artistic value of Gangwon Province’s cultural heritage.

The exhibition aims to facilitate young people’s engagement with artworks that explore the multifaceted aspects of protecting our planet, including the preservation of the environment and cultural heritage, so that they can share and spread their artistic experiences. We believe this will help to foster cultural diversity, and ultimately help steer our future towards a sustainable and positive direction.
