Huh Jeong-Won and Pianist Jung Yerim Receive Park Junyong Young Arts and Culture Award

The ‘4th Park Junyong Young Arts and Culture Award and Gangneung Future Talent Scholarship Award’ ceremony was held at Gangneung City Hall on the 26th. On this occasion, the Gangneung Cultural Foundation presented certificates to artist Heo Jungwon (visual arts/exhibition category) and pianist Jung Yerim (performing arts category), who were selected as the recipients of the ‘4th Park Junyong Young Arts and Culture Award.’

Huh Jeong-Won is a painter whose artistic achievements have been widely recognized. He received the Grand Prize at the 2001 Shin Saimdang Art Competition and has also been awarded at both the Dong-A Art Exhibition and the JoongAng Fine Arts Prize Exhibition. He is currently active as a member of the Gangneung Fine Arts Association and the Korean Contemporary Printmakers Association.

Pianist Jung Yerim, who is currently enrolled in the graduate program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, has also gained international recognition. In 2006, she won third prize at the Vienna International Competition in Austria and received the Mozart Best Performance Award, and has since performed in concert collaborations in countries including the Czech Republic and Austria.

Meanwhile, the ‘Gangneung Future Talent Scholarship Awards’, presented on the same day, were awarded to students Lim Yeonwoo (2nd year, Dongmyeong Middle School), Kim Doyeon (1st year, Gyeongpo Girls’ Middle School), Kim Eunju (2nd year, Yulgok Middle School), Shim Jiyun (2nd year, Kwandong Middle School), Jo Mokryeon (1st year, Solol Middle School), Moon Jiyun (2nd year, Gyeongpo High School), and Kwon Hyeyeon (2nd year, Gangwon Arts High School).
